The Westmoreland Club Employees Scholarship Fund was created to assist employees of the Westmoreland Club and children/grandchildren of the employees of the Westmoreland Club in realizing their educational goals.
The following criteria will apply:
1. Be an employee or child/grandchild of an employee of the Westmoreland Club credited with 500 hours of service preceding calendar year and whose work schedule will call for completion of 500 hours of service in the year in which application is made. Children/grandchildren of managerial employees will not be considered.
2. Be currently enrolled or planning to enroll in a full-time undergraduate program at an accredited college/university or at a post-secondary vocational/technical school.
3. Demonstrate financial need.
4. Complete an application and include a one-page essay explaining how the scholarship will make a difference in their lives.
5. Submit a letter of recommendation from someone in the community but not a relation (such as a teacher, employer, clergy, or Scout leader).
**If you are unsure if you fit the criteria, PLEASE ask, don’t let this possible opportunity pass you by. Also, I encourage you to apply if the only exception is the hours of service requirement.**
An Advisory Committee (consisting of four resident representatives of the Westmoreland Club) appointed by the Board of Directors for a term of three (3) years, no member may serve more than one (1) term, will select the scholarship winner.
No member of the Advisory Committee, or his or her immediate family, shall be eligible for scholarship assistance during his or her tenure on the Advisory Committee. The Advisory Committee retains the right to withhold scholarship grants in any year if no candidate is determined to be qualified.
The Advisory Committee shall notify the chosen scholarship recipient(s) of its decision. The scholarship payment will made after the selected student notifies the Foundation about the school he or she will be attending.
All scholarship checks will be made payable to the school for the student. The Advisory Committee will meet in May to finalize all decision and checks will be issued no later than July of the same year. Scholarship recipient(s) must reapply to be considered for this scholarship in years subsequent to their initial award.
